    Building Digital O&M

    Icon dark

Edocuments Digital Operation & Maintenance (O&M) is the way to link your CAD models, Supply chain and FM application to latest as built O&M information. The O&M hasn't changed ! But how you access it has. Edocuments Digital O&M has always been totally data-driven and now allows your CAD model to link to any as-built information. Typically users link elements and systems in the CAD model to the specific system information or asset schedule in the Digital O&M. The digital O&M is the central hub for all as-built information from all the suppliers, sub-contractors and the professional team. Edocuments document production SpringBoard guarantees that all information goes through an authoring-review-and approve cycle.

Edocuments Service compromise of many elements:

  • Software Only (Build your own manuals).
  • Software combined with document management, document authoring & supply chain chasing.
  • Additional services of working with your end users to make better use of data, and ultimately to give the end user more value from data.
  • Look at software SpringBoard.

Digital O&M built on COBie

Why build on COBie? Edocuments data model is very flexible, where COBie is the most widely used standard. Digital O&M Built on COBie allows all the assets in the digital O&M to be updated inside or outside the digital O&M, exported into another model or into an FM application, and back again. Edocuments have developed robust methods to manage these processes.

Edocuments Digital O&M contains all the record information from your suppliers, and sub-contractors plus additional technical content that doesn't always neatly map to an element in model. But where possible it still can be transformed into the COBie dataset.

In summary, the Digital O&M maintains the template structure recommended by industry bodies CIBSE and BSRIA, HSE etc. or those defined by your client. Edocuments Digital O&M can be queried like a database or alternatively read as a continuous document.

BIM Digital O&M BIM / 3D CAD model.

Digital O&M connected to the 3D CAD model How do we connect many models into 1 digital O&M?

Many models connected to one digital O&M is not a problem, in practice we have found that an average project using BIM uses a combination of Autodesk, Tekla, CADduct, Bentley and many more vendor applications for different aspect of the build.

The result of which is to build a combined model assembled in Autodesk Navisworks. The Digital O&M does not need to be updated as the links from the individual models remain the same.

How do we handle updates in the model?

In the same way when elements are updated in the CAD models if the element id / type remain the same then there is no need to change the link to the digital O&M. When a new element is added to the model then either an existing target in the digital O&M or a new target can be created.

What do Edocuments handover at the end of the process?

BIM Digital O&M Built on COBie

Why build construction documents on COBie? and what is this?

Edocuments document are built onto a data model which is very flexible.

COBie is the most widely used data exchange format within the construction industry.

Digital O&M built on COBie allows all the assets in the digital O&M to be updated inside or outside the digital O&M, exported into another model or into an FM application, and back again. Edocuments have developed robust methods to manage these processes.

10 + Years Producing BIM Ready Digital O&M Manuals

For over 10 years Edocuments have been working to assist clients, professional teams and supply chains to provide quality as built information on time.

Edocuments data objects in the digital O&M are directly connected to elements, groups, and families in the CAD model. This allows us to flow data between the CAD model and the O&M. The digital O&M remains the hub for collecting the as built information from the supply chain.

To assist suppliers, we allow them to simply directly submit data into the digital O&M for review validation and approval.

BIM Services Connected Construction Documentation

Why BIM? BIM models are great!

But a BIM model that contains supplier latest as built information is better. Combined with a simple way to collaborate and keep the information up to date for life creates the ideal solution! Edocuments have integrated the Digital O&M with the CAD model, while maintaining a format the complies with current legislation and best practice, yet is future proof for any changes.

Future proof now.

Not sure what you need or may need in the future? All Edocuments Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals can be simply updated, retrospectively connected to CAD models, or transformed to comply with latest legislation. Re-use data and keep up to date for the life of the building.

Making it simple.

Need some advice, Edocuments can provide various solutions from software only through to a fully managed service. Use our technical authors, project managers and document controllers BIM digital operation & maintenance manual.
